BODRUM
When you are looking for the best, there is only Bodrum and above Bodrum the blue sky and than the Milky Way.
Today's Bodrum is a
peaceful place attracting millions from
all over the world to make an unforgettable
vacation or to live here
for ever . This fame is due to the Fisherman of Halicarnassos who made
intellectuals and famous writers fell in love with Bodrum, and Ahmet
Ertegün founder and ceo of Atlantic Records who brought countless pop
stars and celebrities to Bodrum in the 80's when Bodrum was an insider
hideaway paradise.
None
of Turkey’s other holiday
destination offers so much entertainment and nightlife as Bodrum. There
are 3 modern big Marinas on the Bodrum peninsula one in Bodrum center,
one in Turgutreis and one in Yalikavak, all of the marinas are very
frequently visited, and are offering facilities for shopping, nice
restaurants and bars
Everyone has a different Bodrum of his own. But the real natural
treasures are scattered around Bodrum, while the entertainment resort
Gumbet grew together with Bodrum in recent years, the other
resorts all developed differently.
Beginning at the north east coast of the Bodrum Peninsula is the fishing village Gulluk following the north coast of the Peninsula is Tuzla, Bargilium and Guvercinlik where soon Turkeys biggest Golf course, the Vita Golf Club will open its doors to golf enthusiasts .
Torba is the closest resort to Bodrum
town center on the north coast. driving north through pine forest is
Golturkbuku this fantastic resort is main destination for the Turkish
high society, maybe because of the difficult name, or the fancy but
expensive beach
clubs there are not really many
tourists in Golturkbuku.
3 miles from Golturkbuku on the way to Yalikavak is Gundogan, an
authentic fishing village catching the fresh meltem winds, its always
6, 7 degrees less in summer on this part of the peninsula compared to
Bodrum city. 3 miles west from Gundogan is Yalikavak,
almost as famous as Bodrum, Yalikavak is the part of the peninsula
where the most Europeans live.
Following the coastal road brings you to Gumusluk
with its numerous fish restaurants viewing the tavsan ada (rabbit
island) which can be reached by feet over a narrow underwater path
through knee deep water. 4 miles from Gumusluk is Turgut Reis. On the
west side of the peninsula, Turgut Reis has a big marina and best
shopping facility's, especially the market every Saturday is the
biggest on the peninsula. Turning east toward
Bodrum on the south coast you will pass
Akyarlar and Yahsi before you reach Ortakent, looking over the
sparkling Aegean Sea is the Greek island Kos. Ortakent and Bitez have
nice sandy beaches, like the Camel beach or Yahsi beach. next to Bitez
is Gumbet with its countless bars and restaurants already grown
together with Bodrum old town. This part comes to live at night when
all the night clubs, bars and discos open their doors, offering
entertainment until dawn.
Bodrum can be reached directly from all big European airports by flight and from Istanbul and the Greek Islands by ferry. Izmir is 3 hours by bus, Marmaris 2 hours, Fethiye 3 hours and Antalya 6 hours away.
