Cost of living: A couple, owning an Apartment, can make it easily on €500-700 / month, all included like mobile phone, internet, a small fishing boat. Living luxuriously with an own Car, daily household help, daily alcoholic beverages and dinners out can easily triple that. A meal can range between 7-15 € in Didim, including one glass of beer or wine. But may cost also more than 35,- € in Bodrums In Restaurants.
Language & people: English and German is widely spoken in the touristic regions. More then French, and dutch . Turkish are known for their hospitality and friendliness .
Health services: every small town has a gouvernement hospital, and many small medical stations called saglik ocagi in turkish giving charge free service to turkish citizens. It is planned to expand this service to foreigners with residential permition as well. There are also very good private hospitals on the Turkish west coast like the Universal Hospital in Bodrum and the Bodrum Özel in Bodrum or Letoon Hospital in Fethiye all with English and German speaking staff and offering best medical services .
Shopping: Big shopping centers and chain stores like Carrefour, Tesco Kipa, Metro cash & carry, Migros are in every town on the Turkish west coast. Even Ikea is here. Food is very inexpensive and vegetables and fruits are tasting like 30 years ago in England, 99% of the peasants still grow their vegetables like 100 years ago. Most people shop in the weekly open markets .
Turkish Cuisine:
The rich meditereanien Turkish Cuisine is with the French, Italian and
Chinese amongst the best in the world and tastes best in Turkey don't
compare it with the turkish restaurants in Europe only here it is
possible to get the fresh organic ingredients for a fantastic delicious
meal. For many Europeans who live here, the cuisine is one of the big
reasons to stay. Negatively considered is only that there is not so
much choice to by pork and pork products.

Foreign Currency: There are no restrictions on the import, exchange or export of foreign currency.
Activities: Golf enthusiasts will feel in heaven when four new golf courses will open their doors, two on the Bodrum Peninsula and two on the Didim Peninsula around the Gulluk bay. For the non-golfers, there is tennis, horseback riding and other entertainment. Other activities are excursions or watersports: sailing, cruising, scuba diving, snorkeling, sky diving, paragliding, fishing and so on.
Internet & Telephone : Adsl broadband internet is in every town on the west coast available and mobilphone service providers in Turkey have a state of the art mobile net, providing also Edge, G3, Gprs and everything else whats new
Getting there: travel from almost anywhere in the EU to Turkey is easy and cheap. From the UK there are 2-3 charter airlines that fly from April 1 – October 30 for around 265 sterling return. EasyJet is planning to start cheap flights to Istanbul but you have to fly to the coast, Bodrum, Dalaman or Antalya. There are cheap charter airlines within Turkey for this part of the trip (Atlas Jet, Onur Air) and a few others servicing major German cities (Air Berlin, SunExpress).The Dalaman Airport startet for the first winter to receive charterflights, and the Bodrum International Airport is planning charter flights for the coming winter.
Bodrum, Fethiye, Marmaris and Kusadasi can be reached also by ferry from the Greek islands Cos, Rhodos and Samos all short distance with durations less then 2 hours.
