What to do in Yalikavak
This
fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and all water sports and
attracts many foreign yachts to the harbor that once sheltered mainly
fishing boats.
In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.
The gilt head bream and red mullet served in the towns waterside restaurants are a local specialty. Visiting the market at Thursday is a must.
The most sold daily newspaper, Hurriyet has chosen the Yalikavak market the best in Turkey in October 2007. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geriş), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) are today residential areas where intellectuals from all over the world settled down.
How to go to Yalikavak
Buses start every 20 minutes from Bodrum bus station to yalikavak, the journey takes 30 minutes. Bodrum International airport is 35 minutes by car and can be reached directly from all big European airports by flight and from Istanbul and the Greek Islands by ferry. Izmir is 3 hours by bus, Marmaris 2 hours, Fethiye 3 hours and Antalya 6 hours away.
